Concrete staining and sealing of concrete floors is a reasonable priced option with a quick turn around to achieve a decorative concrete floor finish. There are many types of stains from acid stains, water stains, and dyes with unlimited colors to choose from. Dyes tend to hide the imperfections of concrete a bit better. Just like with polished concrete, patterns and borders can be created as well as logos. Unlike polished concrete, this process is quicker and does not require continuous passes with large grinders and therefore finishing even small spaces is common.
Depending on the amount of traffic, this application works well in medical buildings, hospitals, retail stores, shopping centers, worship spaces, and other areas mainly accessible to foot traffic. For heavier applications, a clear epoxy topcoat is recommended followed by a urethane sealer. This will help the stain to withstand heavy foot traffic and wheeled traffic such as auto and truck tires.
